Grant Thornton appoints national head of technical tax
Grant Thornton has welcomed its new national head of technical tax, David Montani.
The professional services firm has announced the appointment of a new national head of technical tax, specialising in private tax and advisory.
David Montani was appointed national head of tax in early February to support the private business tax and advisory team by providing practical tax training, mentoring and developing specialist tax advisors, providing tax technical support and assisting with quality and excellence protocols.
Montani said he was looking forward to his future at Grant Thornton and to further his career.
“I am delighted to join the team at Grant Thornton and leverage my extensive knowledge and experience in specialist taxation advisory to assist the PBTA team with delivering solutions for clients’ tax and advisory needs,” he said.
“With over 30 years of industry experience, this is an ideal time to join a firm like Grant Thornton, which has warmly welcomed me.”
The firm noted that Montani was also a strong contributor to public discourse on tax reform and had written a book called Tax Wars set to be released next month.
Montani said he had written the book from a political storytelling perspective to help people understand the Australian tax system, what’s been happening within the space and to help people figure out a way “to break the gridlock.”
Grant Thornton national managing partner Michael Pittendrigh said he was proud to have welcomed Montani and his wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to the team.
“I am thrilled to welcome such a well-respected advisor like David to our remarkable national team. With more than 30 years’ experience in taxation and business advisory, he brings a depth and breadth of knowledge amongst our specialist advisors,” Pittendrigh said.
“David is a passionate professional who genuinely cares about delivering results and the broader advisory and consulting industry. He holds a strong interest in tax reform and is an advocate for positive business outcomes.”
“He is a wonderful addition to the team, and I look forward to working together. Grant Thornton is proud to welcome David to the national PBTA team.”
