Grant Thornton US CEO calls it quits after 30 years
The professional services firm's US CEO, Seth Siegel, has abruptly stepped down from the position after nearly three decades in the role.
Grant Thornton US CEO Seth Siegel has revealed after a substantial term he will step away from the prestigious role to move into a senior adviser role.
Following the sudden announcement last week, the position of CEO of Grant Thornton's Advisors LLC was filled by the previous chief operating officer, Jim Peko.
Siegel noted that after 30 years with Grant Thornton and with the firm well positioned for sustained success, he was ready to pass the role onto someone else.
The firm said under Siegel’s leadership, it had executed “transformational initiatives with an unparalleled focus on people and quality.”
“Grant Thornton deeply thanks Siegel for his pioneer leadership and tireless dedication to the firm,” the firm said.
“We wish him all the best as he pursues other ambitions, focuses on his health and spends more quality time with his family.”
According to a statement released by Grant Thornton Advisors LLC last week, Peko was appointed as CEO based on his long-tenured principal at the firm.
The firm said Peko had been at the forefront of its “transformational investments” in its core business segments and helped drive recent transactions and its ongoing commitment to people, culture and quality.
Peko thanked Siegel for his time as CEO and all actions, transformations and changes he had implemented as CEO, a colleague, mentor, friend and industry advocate.
“As CEO, my priorities will focus on accelerating our current business strategy and solidifying our standing in the marketplace as a unique global platform, driven by quality, culture and differentiated capabilities,” Peko said.
“We will continue to be the employer of choice for the industry and always capitalise on compelling opportunities before us as we drive meaningful growth.”
Siegel said Peko was the right choice as the replacement CEO based on his experience and deep integration in the firm.
“Jim and I have worked closely together for many years, and he is the right leader for this new chapter- one who knows Grant Thorton well and has been integral to our many recent accomplishments and our quality-focused delivery,” he said.
“I have called Grant Thornton home for almost three decades and am proud to have been part of this amazing team and organisation, which has solidified its standing as the destination of choice for clients and talent alike.”
