Grant Thornton International names Greg Keith as CEO-elect
Greg Keith will take on the role of chief executive for Grant Thornton International after stepping down as chief executive of Grant Thornton Australia.
Grant Thornton International has revealed Greg Keith is set to become chief executive from 1 January 2026.
Currently the CEO of Grant Thornton Australia, Keith would succeed Peter Bodin as CEO of the firm’s international network which looked after 76,000 people in member firms in over 150 markets.
Bodin would be set to end his tenure as international CEO in December this year after serving two terms and the maximum eight years allowed under Grant Thornton’s rules.
Martin Geh, chair of the firm’s international board of governors, said he congratulated Keith on his appointment as CEO-elect of Grant Thornton International on behalf of the board and entire network.
“Greg is a current and prior member of the board of governors, bringing continuity and insight to the network. His extensive experience and commitment to the success of the network will inspire confidence in our member firm CEOs and our people,” Geh said.
“The board and I are confident that Greg is the right person to lead the network into the next chapter in our history.”
Geh also noted Bodin had been an “exceptional leader” of the international network for the last eight years and oversaw an increase in global revenue from US$5 billion to US$8 billion since he took over the role in 2018.
According to Geh, Bodin also increased integration and quality of the firm’s audit platform and delivered “the most collaborative strategy in the history of Grant Thornton, focused on both protecting and growing the network.”
Bodin and Geh said they would work closely with Keith to ensure a seamless transition throughout the second half of this year.
Keith would be the first Grant Thornton International CEO from the APAC region and received unanimous support from the board of governors and CEOs of the network following a selection process carried out with external experts.
Keith’s term would run for five years after having served as the Australian CEO for 10 years, during which the firm delivered record revenues and growth.
The firm noted that as CEO of the Australian firm, Keith used his passion for diversity and inclusion to create a positive workplace culture and “broke new ground” by introducing progressive parental leave schemes and a nine-day fortnight for all its people with no reduction to remuneration.
Keith said he was looking forward to the next step in his career.
“I am honoured to be appointed to this position and follow on from Peter, who has been so successful and led so strongly during his eight-year term. As CEO for the Australian firm, I’ve had an active role across Asia Pacific for the network, most recently as chair of the APAC 5 group of the largest firms in the region,” he said.
“Taking on this new responsibility is an exciting challenge. I’ve always been proud to be part of Grant Thornton as its ability to deliver both supportive people policies and personalised client experience is nothing short of remarkable.”
