Steve Batrouney joins as a proven industry leader in employment tax law, the firm says.

Boutique firm Prince Consulting has recruited a “pre-eminent” big four tax veteran to join as a principal in its tax advisory practice.

The Melbourne-based firm, which specialises in employee remuneration and regulatory compliance, expected Batrouney to expand its capabilities across a range of employment tax issues.

These included the superannuation guarantee, single touch payroll, PAYG withholding, long service leave, fringe benefits tax, employee share schemes and contractors and workers’ compensation.

It said Batrouney had “knowledge and long experience” in helping clients understand the “importance of the accuracy of their payroll, including the quantification and remediation of employee under-payments and superannuation guarantee shortfalls”.

He also supported the development of policies and industry insights through his involvement with Tax Office working groups and various committees with the Tax Institute.

“This has included sessions and industry events with Institute, as well as contributing to key policy areas through working groups that provide feedback and commentary to Treasury and legislators,” it said.

Managing partner Michael Polis said Batrouney was a proven industry leader and well-recognised as an exceptional practitioner in employment tax law.

“We are excited to have Steve join us,” he said.

“We have interacted with Steve across a number of client engagements, and found ourselves aligned with him in both values and technical capabilities.”

“Over his illustrious career, Steve has been a trusted partner to multiple employers who have relied on his expert advice and implementation expertise to ensure they meet their payment and reporting obligations, so with his decision to join Prince we’re assured of being able to offer industry best practice to our clients.”

Batrouney said: “In my dealings with Prince Consulting, I have been impressed with the team’s vision to provide industry best workplace compliance advice and implementation services.”

“I have great respect for its technical expertise, project management skills and advanced technology capabilities. Prince’s values-led approach was also critical in my decision to join – I know the value they put on the welfare of their people and delivering high-quality client outcomes.”
