Accounting ties strengthened in Sri Lanka: CPA Australia
The professional body established strong relationships and connections with the Sri Lankan community during a delegation visit in July.
The high-level delegate members included board members and representatives from international markets.
The group aimed to found relationships with local Sri Lankan governments, professional bodies, universities and banking institutions.
Global president and chair of CPA Australia Professor, Dale Pinto, said CPA Australia is excited to be expanding its presence in Sri Lanka.
“Since the launch of our local liaison office in June 2023, we’ve seen our membership flourish to nearly 500,” he said.
“Many of these members are now holding pivotal roles across diverse industries, showcasing the strength and influence of CPA Australia in the region.”
The professional body participated in a special ceremony to acknowledge the achievements of long-standing members over the last 10 to 20 years.
The ceremony also celebrated several prominent Sri Lankan companies partnered with CPA Australia.
CPA Australia said the ceremony demonstrated the association’s brand-building efforts since the official launch of the brand in Sri Lanka in June 2023.
Pinto said the dedication to the accounting profession in Sri Lanka was inspiring.
“Sri Lanka is home to a wealth of experienced professionals and promising young talents pursuing careers in accounting and finance,” Pinto said.
“This vibrant talent pool is a major driving force behind our strengthened commitment to the region.”
The organisation met with esteemed figures such as the President of Sri Lanka Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, government officials, regulatory bodies, employers, and educational and banking institutions, CPA Australia said.
Meeting with these local organisations and people has enabled CPA Australia to “collaborate effectively and empower young talent with the latest accounting and finance knowledge and skills.”
“We are deeply honoured to have forged these connections,” Pinto said.
Pinto believes the union will significantly contribute to Sri Lanka’s sustainable economic growth.
The delegation also hosted a thought leadership forum for the local community on 23 July.
The event “Digitisation, A.I. and the future of business” had more than 100 attendees consisting of executive managers and senior professionals. It focused on providing a stimulating discussion on the transformative power of technology and explored how emerging technologies such as AI will impact future business.
“Attendees gained valuable insights from industry experts about the latest international trends and regional studies, equipping them with the knowledge to make critical and strategic decisions for their organisations,” CPA Australia said.
The association said the visit to Sri Lanka marks a significant step forward in its commitment to supporting the country’s economic growth and empowering its talented professionals.
Pinto said CPA Australia is appreciative of the opportunity to share the profession with the Sri Lankan community.
