CA ANZ appoints new director to board
The professional body has welcomed Rachel Walsh to its board of directors, effective 1 July.
Walsh brings sound knowledge and experience across all sectors of finance to the organisation through her extensive 25-year global career.
CA ANZ board chair John Palermo said Walsh would be a valuable addition to the board of directors based on her thorough experience in finance, technology, healthcare and infrastructure.
“I’m so pleased Rachel Walsh is joining the CA ANZ board. Her finance and commercial experience, including most recently as the former Group CFO of Datacom Group Limited and Abano Healthcare Group, will be invaluable,” he said.
Having been a member of multiple other boards and organisations such as the boards of NZX, IAG New Zealand, the External Reporting Advisory Panel (XRAP) and the Institute of Directors New Zealand, Walsh proved to be an experienced professional.
Walsh said she was pleased to have been welcomed to the CA ANZ board during an influential period.
“I am delighted to join the CA ANZ Board during an exciting time for both the membership body and the profession it represents,” she said.
CA ANZ said Walsh accomplished a significant amount globally in her career, with knowledge in private equity acquisitions and divestments, debt raising in the US markets and financial reporting in the US market and under International Financial Reporting Standards.
Walsh said she was looking forward to joining the board and was excited to make an impact with the knowledge she had gained throughout her career.
“When you are a Chartered Accountant, you have the rare opportunity to dig into organisations – their strategies, their thinking and their purpose – and align them to opportunities we see evolving in areas such as Generative AI and Sustainability. Being alert to those interrelationships across businesses, technology and industries is incredibly important for our profession,” she said.
With the welcoming of Walsh, the CA ANZ board is also seeing the retirement of two board directors, Rob McDonald FCA and Carolyn Colley FCA.
Palermo said McDonald and Colley have been well-respected members of the board who contributed significantly to the organisation.
“Both Rob and Carolyn have been strong voices for our profession, and we have benefitted from their experience and expertise."
“On behalf of the entire CA ANZ Board I wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to both Rob and Carolyn for their extensive contributions and dedication during their time on the board,” he said.
