Cathro recruits fraud, forensic accounting specialist
The firm bolsters its insolvency teams to meet increasing demand.
Corporate restructuring specialist Cathro & Partners has recruited Mark Cook to bolster its insolvency and advisory practice.
Cathro said Mr Cook had two decades of experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigation, corporate restructuring advisory, and insolvency in both Australia and the UK.
“His expertise complements the firm’s three specialist teams across personal insolvency, corporate insolvency, and government advisory,” it said.
In June Cathro & Partners set up a personal insolvency specialist team alongside its existing corporate insolvency and government advisory services to provide support for individuals across bankruptcy, controlling trustee, and personal insolvency agreements.
Cathro & Partners managing principal Simon Cathro said Mr Cook’s experience would be invaluable with insolvency and fraud on the rise.
“We’re seeing an increased need for specialist expertise in forensic accounting and fraud investigations,” he said.
“While insolvency numbers are back at pre-COVID-19 levels, we’re predicting demand will spike as the country faces further rate hikes and a tough economic environment.”
Mr Cook said he looked forward to helping clients prior to insolvency through Cathro’s restructuring services.
“I’m pleased to be joining a firm of Cathro & Partners’ calibre and reputation in market and working alongside an already stellar team of insolvency, restructuring and advisory experts,” he said.
