EY announces 2 appointments to Asia-Pacific branch
The big four firm has appointed Yew-Poh Mak as EY Asia-Pacific deputy area managing partner and Shannon Cotter as EY Asia-Pacific strategy and transactions leader.
Yew-Poh Mak moved into his new role at the beginning of July, succeeding Harsha Basnayake who has filled the EY global managing partner- business administration and risk position.
Mak, previously the EY Asia-Pacific strategy and transactions leader, has over 30 years’ experience in management consulting and corporate management, where he worked alongside clients to grow capital allocation and strategy execution.
As EY Asia-Pacific deputy area managing partner, Mak will be required to work closely with EY Asia-Pacific area managing partner Patrick Winter and the leadership team to drive execution of the EY global strategy.
Within this role, Mak will also establish strategic capabilities and operational functions to achieve greater alignment, efficiencies and growth across Asia-Pacific.
EY Asia-Pacific area managing partner Patrick Winter said he is looking forward to working alongside Mak after his success in his past role.

Following Mak’s promotion, Shannon Cotter has stepped into his previous role having been appointed EY Asia-Pacific strategy and transactions leader.
Prior to this, Cotter has been the Oceania SaT leader since 2021 and will retain this role as she moves across to the Asia-Pacific leadership team. Cotter will be comfortable within the role having already experienced the workload , requirements and expectations.
Cotter has more than 25 years of experience in leadership positions and liaising with clients on infrastructure, franchising and service contracting projects.
She will be a valuable addition to the Asia-Pacific SaT leadership team and will help continue to build the team's capabilities and foster collaboration between various SaT EY businesses across the globe.
Winter said he is thrilled Cotter will succeed Mak and knows she will keep the SaT team strong and capable due to her extensive experience in advising global clients.
“We have appointed Shannon Cotter as our new APAC SaT leader where she brings more than 25 years of leadership and experience advising clients around the world,” Winter said.

Winter added with the appointment of Mak and Cotter the farewell of Basnayake, stating he is grateful for the work and accomplishments Basnayake achieved while part of the Asia-Pacific team.
