Findex partners with Agtuary to offer carbon accounting to farms
The Melbourne start-up analyses satellite and climate data to reveal the environmental impact of agriculture.
Top 10 accounting firm Findex has joined forces with agribusiness specialist Agtuary to provide carbon accounting services to the farming community.
The two companies said the collaboration would empower agricultural enterprises to measure, report and mitigate their environmental footprint.
Findex chief operations officer Julian Maloney said the partnership will mean gaining the ability to advise on environmental impacts and provide carbon accounting aligned with national reporting frameworks.
“Our teams, especially those located in regional Australia, have experienced an uptick in recent years of clients asking for expert guidance to better manage their business’s carbon emissions,” he said.
“The partnership with Agtuary addresses this demand and presents an exciting opportunity to further enhance our offering to the agricultural industry.
“As primary producers navigate the complexities of emissions reduction, Agtuary’s platform will equip Findex with the necessary tools to measure, report and provide actionable insights for clients who are committed to their sustainability journey.”
Co-founded by data scientists Angus Muffatti and Matthew Rozek, Agtuary launched four years ago and was helped by SproutX, an accelerator program that works in conjunction with Findex.
The Melbourne start-up uses satellite and climate data to analyse agricultural production, enabling farms and land owners to measure, monitor and report on climate risks, sustainability and emissions.
Its land analysis and environment services were already available to farmers across the industry, including livestock, cropping, horticulture, fisheries and forestry, it said, and its mission was to enable 1 million farms to improve and report on their sustainability by 2030.
Agtuary CEO Mr Muffatti said it shared goals with Findex and the two could empower customers with crucial insights.
“With Findex’s strong regional presence, the Agtuary platform will help inform more customers operating in the agriculture industry on their sustainability journey and accelerate the adoption of better environmental practices,” he said.
Agtuary’s AI-driven platform helped farmers uncover the risks and see the opportunities in managing climate change and sustainability across supply chains, ecosystems and economies by combining carbon calculation capabilities with workflows, environmental data and analytics.
The farming community faced increasing demand from customers, financial institutions, and regulators to report on their emission-intensive activities, it said.
Agtuary would provide training and expertise to the Findex team who could then assist their clients in using the carbon accounting platform, with the services expected to kick off by the end of the month.
Findex said it had more than 20,000 clients in Australia and New Zealand operating within the agriculture industry and the partnership would greatly enhance its capabilities.
