Grant Thornton reveals new national head of financial services
The firm has welcomed Claire Scott as its new national head of financial services, effective 1 January 2025.
Grant Thornton has announced the appointment of a new national head of financial services, Claire Scott.
The firm revealed Scott was set to officially take over the role at the beginning of next year and would bring an impressive depth of industry knowledge and leadership.
Scott would take over the role from Darren Scammell, who had successfully led the firm’s financial services practice for the past three years, according to Grant Thornton.
Previously, Scott was a partner in audit and assurance and holds experience in external audit, assurance and regulatory compliance.
Scott also had experience dealing with advisory for APRA-regulated entities, such as superannuation funds, authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) which included major banks, regional banks, mutual banks and foreign banks.
In addition to this, the firm said Scott was also well-versed in investment funds, fintechs, non-bank lenders, mortgage funds and other financial service entities.
Scott said she was looking forward to beginning 2025 in the new role.
“I am thrilled to take on the role of national head of financial services, and work alongside our talented industry team to help our clients navigate the evolving financial services landscape,” she said.
“With the industry going through rapid transformation, our clients need experts who are deeply knowledgeable and capable of providing forward-looking, tailored solutions.”
“My ambition is to build on the strong foundation laid by Darren and continue making a meaningful, sustainable impact for our clients.”
In the new role, Scott would lead a diverse group of industry experts, dedicated to supporting the evolving needs of financial services organisations.
In the new role, Scott would be able to provide clients with strategic guidance and solutions to help them navigate regulatory requirements, improve operational efficiency and seize new growth opportunities.
Grant Thornton chief marketing and industry officer, Fraser McNaughton, said Scott was well-positioned to lead the financial services team and would bring a fresh focus and innovative solutions to clients.
“We are delighted to welcome Claire into this leadership role. Claire’s extensive financial services experience, commitment to client success and expertise in audit and regulatory standards make her the ideal leader to guide our clients through these times of significant change,” he said.
“Darren has set a high standard for our financial services practice, and I want to thank him for his dedication and ongoing contributions to our continued growth within this industry.”
Grant Thornton noted it was looking forward to furthering its commitment to the financial services industry under Scott’s leadership, “building on its dedication to delivering high-quality, tailored services that addressed both immediate and long-term industry challenges.”
