rsm adds 6 partners 12 directors to meet exponential growth

Most of the appointments were internal promotions, with the only external partner hire being an ex-Deloitte director.

RSM has started the year by appointing six partners and 12 directors across 10 different offices to match its “exponential” growth and demand from metropolitan and regional clients.

The appointments were effective from 1 January and mainly comprised internal promotions, recognising existing talent within the firm, RSM said.

“Supporting the career development of our internal staff remains a key priority for the firm, and it’s pleasing to see a number of current employees rewarded and recognised within the business,” chief executive partner Jamie O’Rourke said.

“At a time when our firm is growing exponentially, it’s critical that we continue to attract and nurture top-tier talent,” he said.

O’Rourke said the appointments, which span 10 of 32 office locations across the country, also helped RSM achieve its 2030 strategy of providing quality client services across both metropolitan and regional Australia.

“Four of the 18 appointments at this time are based in regional offices, while the remainder are located across Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, signalling RSM’s focus on continual growth and investment into our people across the country,” he said.

The additions are almost double the January appointments RSM made last year of three partners and three principals.

It brings RSM’s total partner headcount to 149. The firm's total staff numbers now also exceed 1,900, up 15 per cent since 2022.

Out of the new appointments, four were lateral hires and the rest were internal promotions.

RSM said former Deloitte director Larissa Lai, the only external partner hire, joined the R&D tax practice in Brisbane on 6 January.

External director hires set to start at RSM next week included Roisin Arkwright, also formerly of Deloitte, who would join Sydney’s tax practice, and ex-KPMG technology consultant Michael Clark in RSM’s Canberra consulting practice.

Finally, tax adviser Gavin O’Neill joined as a director in Perth on 6 December following periods at Commerce SPS and BDO.

“We’re delighted to welcome Larissa, Roisin, Michael and Gavin to RSM Australia, who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our growing mid-market client mix in their respective service lines,” O’Rourke said.
