The professional services firm has announced the appointment of five key senior leaders in its Western Australian network.
RSM Australia has appointed an additional five leaders in its Perth and regional offices in a move to bolster its expertise and leadership ranks in Western Australia.
The five key senior appointments included two internal promotions and a lateral hire with multinational experience.
RSM Australia revealed both Simon Harcombe and Tom Hüberli had been appointed to partner positions, while Gavin O’Neill, Fiona Sherington and Liam Telford were appointed to director positions.
The firm said the newly appointed partners, Harcombe and Hüberli, brought different expertise and experience to the partnership team as Harcombe worked within Perth’s R&D tax incentive team and Hüberli in the Rockingham business advisory team.
Harcombe had extensive Australian and international experience across industries including resources, technology and biotechnology.
Hüberli was noted to have specialised in business consultancy and taxation and was highly regarded for his Swiss pension tax outcomes and expertise in the defence and manufacturing sectors.
Gavin O’Neill joined the firm as director for corporate tax in the Perth office and brings extensive corporate and international tax experience to the role, after previously being regional tax director APAC at SGS in Switzerland and spending a decade at BDO.
RSM Perth managing partner Alasdair Whyte said he was pleased to announce the appointment of the key senior roles and welcomed their leadership and expertise.
“Notably, the advancement of Simon Harcombe and Tom Hüberli is a testament to their dedication and the immense value they provide to our team and our clients. Tom started his career as a graduate with RSM and is now an integral part of our business advisory team, managing our Rockingham office,” he said.
“Securing Gavin O’Neill’s expertise, knowledge and talent is a major win for our clients and all of these appointments come at a pivotal time as we continue to expand our presence and enhance our portfolio of professional services in Perth.”
RSM also said that further supporting these roles were the notable appointments of Fiona Sherington from the business advisory team in Bunbury and Liam Telford from the Perth tax services team.
According to the firm, Sherington joined RSM as a graduate in the Perth office before she relocated to the South West of WA where she supported clients with superannuation and cloud accounting, particularly in the health sector.
Telford is the national tax technical director and supported clients across the country from Perth and previously worked at the ATO, BHP and professional services.
Whyte said the promotions were part of 18 new leaders appointed nationally in 2025, bringing RSM Australia’s total partner numbers to 149.
“We look forward to the value these leaders will add to our firm, as they will play a critical role in achieving and delivering value to our clients,” he said.
“These strategic promotions and hires also reinforce our ongoing commitment to meet the evolving needs of our clients and deliver innovative solutions.”
