Tech incubator recruits CA ANZ to pitch sessions
Members will get a chance to shape accounting technology in its formative stages, says Early Adopters Hub.
Tech incubator the Early Adopters Hub has recruited CA ANZ as a a partner in its mission to involve accountants in the development of practice software.
EAH co-founder Jack Thiel said the venture would give start-ups a shortcut to the broader CA community to demonstrate their technology. At the same time, CA members would contribute to shaping technology in its formative stages.
“We firmly believe that accountants should drive and shape the future of accounting tech, and we are excited to see such a trusted body in the profession, CA ANZ, share our enthusiasm for accountant-led innovation,” Mr Thiel said. General manager of innovation at CAANZ Jeremy Rowe said the partnership would help empower members.
“CA ANZ’s Catalyst program creates pathways for CAs to embrace the future of accounting,” he said.
“With the emergence of new and disruptive technologies seemingly daily now, we pride ourselves on providing clarity and readiness for our members so they can identify and implement the right technologies at the right time.
“With our partnership with the EAH we bring ourselves even closer to the coalface of this tech innovation and therein empower our CAs to shape the future of the profession, capitalise on it rather than be disrupted by it.”
Mr Thiel said accountants listened to each other when it came to technology.
“[This] provides innovative accountants with a competitive advantage, exclusive discounts and a direct pathway to influence product development based on their specific needs,” he said.
EAH launched in February and has already partnered with Accountex Australia and the Digital Accountancy Show in the UK. The firm has presented more than 30 start-ups and celebrated the first graduates from its accelerator program in Brieff and RQ.
Mr Thiel said EAH also had ambition to become the go-to accelerator for accountants creating their own tech.
“It comes as no surprise that more firms and accountants are entering the tech space, building internal tools to enhance productivity and client outcomes,” he said.
“We give accountants who wish to build tech of their own a platform to de-risk and accelerate the journey.”
“Our experience, framework, objectivity and community offer these innovative firms a faster and more cost-effective route to product development, benefiting the entire profession.”
